Flash-flood forecasting at small Hungarian catchments

Rövid leírás:

The number of extreme rainfall events has increased in the last two decades in Hungary. The runoff generated by these rainfall events caused flash-floods, hence severe economic losses. There is no warning system available for forecasting these events in Hungary. However, short-term precipitation forecasts are available, which can be used in a rainfall-runoff model to perform streamflow forecast. The study would involve the calibration of an event-based rainfall-runoff model. The main steps of the study would be a) catchment delineation, b) pre-processing rainfall and runoff data, c) comparison of the forecasted and measured rainfall, d) calibration and validation of the rainfall-runoff model, and e) simulating forecast for past flood events.
